Canon have announced details regarding its largest-ever presence at IBC, the leading global tradeshow for media and broadcast professionals held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The company displayed a world-class range of Full HD and 4K solutions at this year’s show, capping a momentous year that has seen the significant expansion of its broadcast portfolio with the launch of the revolutionary Cinema EOS System.

During IBC 2012 Canon provided visitors with an excellent facility to learn about the company’s range of studio and field-based solutions. The larger environment was home to a range of product tutorials and touches and try areas, giving visitors an exclusive opportunity to experience Canon’s complete professional range, including the complete Cinema EOS System line-up, an industry-leading selection of broadcast and cinema lenses and 4K displays.

“Since last year’s show we’ve made some exceptional additions to our professional video and broadcast line-up, and IBC provides the perfect platform to share these solutions with professionals from across the industry.” said Kieran Magee, Professional Imaging Marketing Director, Canon Europe.

IBC 2012 marks the European debut for Canon’s complete Cinema EOS System.
The acclaimed EOS C300 was on display, as was two new 4K models – EOS C500 and EOS-1D C DSLR – which was demonstrated alongside Canon’s expanding 4K-resolution EF Cinema Lens range, including both Cine Primes and new Compact Zoom Lenses.

A one-off screening was held on Saturday 8th September, as part of the IBC Big Screen Experience, to showcase the power of Canon’s latest additions. Two short movies, which were created for the launch of these products – Man and Beast, shot with EOS C500, and The Ticket, shot using the EOS-1D C – was displayed in full 4K resolution. Visitors also have the chance to see 4K output on the Canon stand, thanks to a technology demonstration of Canon 4K displays. These high resolution panels were previously showcased at NAB 2012 earlier this year.

A large section of Canon’s stand was dedicated to showcasing its latest selection of high-quality broadcast lenses, which uniquely benefit from over 50 years’ expertise in the development of TV optics. Visitors to the stand was able to try a number of different studio and field-based options, including the HJ17ex6.2B, DIGISUPER 80 and 76 Box Lenses and the pan-tilt XU-80. The possibilities offered by the professional compact handheld X-series cameras was also demonstrated including the EOS-1D X and the EOS 5D Mark III.
